Work Center Release Paths

The Harrison County Inmate Work Center, also documented as the Harrison County Community Work Center, is located on Lorraine Road in Gulfport. HCSO describes it as a cooperative facility operating with MDOC assistance for sentenced state prisoners. People housed there may work at sites throughout Harrison County and its municipalities, but outside work does not make them released. They remain prisoners under the state correctional framework while assigned to the center.

A departure from the Work Center can lead in several directions. MDOC may move the prisoner to a different institution or unit. The person may enter parole or Earned Release Supervision, often called ERS. A sentence may reach discharge. Only some of those events end physical custody, and not all end MDOC jurisdiction. The governing source is the MDOC offender record, supported by a written MDOC records request when the public search does not establish the actual event.

Confirm Work Center Release

Start with the MDOC inmate search, not the Harrison current-jail roster. The state form accepts first name, last name, or MDOC ID. An MDOC number is the strongest search key. When searching by name, compare date of birth and other identity fields before relying on a result. A Harrison County conviction can help narrow the match, but County of Conviction does not prove the person's current placement, residence, or release destination.

The state detail page can show Location, Unit, Location Change Date, Entry Date, sentence information, County of Conviction, and Tentative Release Date. Read Location and Unit with the date. A Tentative Release Date is prospective, not proof that the person left custody. A blank field must stay blank. An ERS location can mean the person is physically in the community while still under MDOC jurisdiction.

1. Search by MDOC ID when it is known, or use the full name and compare the identity fields in the result.
2. Record the displayed Location, Unit, Location Change Date, and Tentative Release Date without changing MDOC's labels.
3. Use the MDOC parolee search to check for community supervision by name, ID, city, or county.
4. If neither public search explains the Work Center departure, request the time sheet, transfer, release, or discharge information from MDOC in writing.
5. Contact the listed supervision office only after the parolee result identifies the county or supervising officer that should handle confirmation.

Work Center Offender Fields

MDOC's public inmate detail includes a broad identity and sentence record. Useful release research fields include MDOC ID Number, Entry Date, Location, Unit, Location Change Date, Number of Sentences, Total Length, offense, Sentence Length, County of Conviction, Sentence Date, and Tentative Release Date. The result may also carry a state offender photograph. It is not necessarily the Harrison County booking image tied to an earlier local arrest.

The parolee detail has a different purpose. It can show the person's photo, name, MDOC ID, date of birth, County, Supervising Officer, and Flat Time Date. A parolee match supports conditional community release, not complete discharge. The County field is supervision context and should not be recast as the original booking county. Likewise, Flat Time Date should not be called the actual Work Center release date without confirmation from MDOC.

Work Center Release Records

When the public state searches do not clearly show what happened, use MDOC's Public Records Requests page. The agency says requests to examine, copy, or obtain public records must be in writing and are not accepted by telephone. Identify the person by full name and MDOC ID when possible. Ask narrowly for the record showing actual release or discharge date and category, the offender time computation, and any transfer record needed to explain departure from the Harrison County Work Center.

MDOC does not publish a fixed fee for the specific discharge record in the cited research. Request advance notice of charges and state that an electronic copy is preferred if that works for the requester. The Records Department phone and email can help with routing and questions, but the written-request rule still governs the public-record request. No public interface promise establishes how long a former offender profile stays searchable online.

HCSO Public Records can still be useful for a county-maintained placement or movement record. Yet a county record that notes the person left Lorraine Road may stop at the transfer. MDOC remains the source for the later state release, supervision, or discharge. Work Center Records Contact

The official HCSO contact page identifies the Inmate Work Center at 10046 Lorraine Road in Gulfport. It does not publish a separate Work Center information number in the research used here. HCSO's non-emergency line can route a current facility question, while its Public Records Division is the proper local channel for a retained county record. Ask the custodian which agency holds the exact item before sending duplicate broad requests.

A request to HCSO should give the full name, MDOC ID, and likely Work Center dates, then ask for any local placement or movement record held by the Sheriff's Office. A separate written request to MDOC should seek the state transfer, release, discharge, or time-computation record. This division reflects the cooperative operation and prevents a local no-result from being mistaken for release from state custody.

Work Center Release History

The facility's identity appears in both county and state sources. HCSO calls it the Inmate Work Center and says it operates with MDOC assistance and cooperation. MDOC's 2018 Annual Report used Harrison County Community Work Center. The state PREA audit archive also carries that Community Work Center name. These names describe the same local placement path and explain why searches must include both HCSO and MDOC terminology.

The Sheriff's Corrections Division reports that the center houses about 140 to 160 sentenced state prisoners who work at sites across Harrison County and its municipalities. That figure is the distinctive facility angle required by the research. It is a reported population range, not a release count. It also marks a key status boundary: work in the community while housed at the center remains a prison placement, not parole, ERS, or discharge.

The successful manifest screenshot comes from the official MDOC PREA archive. It supports the Community Work Center name and state connection. It does not show a live roster or prove any individual's release.

The archive is useful for verifying the facility's MDOC context. Person-specific status still comes from the offender search, parolee search, and a written state records request.

Work Center Custody Boundaries

The Work Center should not be described as a normal pretrial county jail or as a post-release supervision office. HCADC is the principal Harrison County jail. MDOC's Gulfport and Biloxi probation-and-parole offices supervise qualifying people in the community, but those offices are not detention facilities. The Work Center sits between those categories as a local site for sentenced state prisoners who remain in custody.

Federal and immigration searches fit only when an actual record names a transfer to one of those systems. No active BOP institution or dedicated ICE detention facility was verified in Harrison County. Absence from the Work Center or an MDOC page does not prove an ICE or federal movement.
